Program Overview
The didactic approach is unique in that it combines the study of the traditional Italian culture of the peninsula with the study of its influence in Luxembourg. This programme provides tools for the reflection and better understanding of Italian society, language and culture from an interdisciplinary and intercultural academic perspective. Programme (French)
Career Opportunities
Study and Career opportunities Our graduates continue their studies at Master level in English literature and/or linguistics. Their interdisciplinary training also prepares them for postgraduate studies in other fields in the Humanities. Some of them opt for a career in teaching, whereas others successfully establish themselves in professional fields such as the media, journalism, publishing, communication, cultural agencies, public relations and many other areas. If you choose the BCE English Studies, we will do all we can to help you feel at ease in multilingual environments. You will also be encouraged to navigate between different cultures socially and professionally. Challenge 2: Our graduates are independent critical thinkers.If you choose the BCE English Studies, we will teach you to examine how language is used in everyday life and in literary texts from an academic perspective. You will learn to create well-grounded arguments that evaluate and combine different perspectives and approaches. Further Studies and Career Perspectives We aim to equip our graduates with skills that will matter for their future academic and/or professional careers. Depending on your plans for the future, a strong specialisation, and sometimes even a second specialisation, are necessary or advised. This would be the case, for instance, if you were thinking of going into teaching.• As a graduate of our programme, you will be qualified to pursue a Master’s degree in English Studies and/or other fields in the Humanities related to English linguistics and literary studies.• In combination with a Master’s degree, our graduates also meet the legal requirements for teaching careers in Luxembourg (further information: Luxembourg Ministry of Education, Children and Youth). Programme The courses are spread over two semesters (from September to May) and take place on Wednesdays from 18.00 to 21.30, at Kirchberg Campus. The language of instruction is Italian. The use of another language is permitted during the exams. Attendance is compulsory. (semester 1,2) Format: Part-time programme Specific information for this programme Requirements This programme is aimed at anyone interested in Italian culture and, in particular, at professionals involved in economic, cultural and political exchanges with Italy and who wish to develop better communication and management skills of social and professional relations in an intercultural and multilingual Luxembourgish context.Requirements include:– a high school diploma;– a good command of the Italian language (level B2 of the Common European Framework);– a motivation letter in Italian.
