Program Curriculum
The first semester consists of two core courses: Theoretical Perspectives in Gender Studies and Methodologies in Gender Studies.
During the second semester, you achieve deeper knowledge with one core course and one elective course. During the second half of the second semester, you can also choose to take the programme specific course, Independent Explorations in a field of Gender Studies, in order to deepen your knowledge within a specific field. You can choose between a number of courses where you are guaranteed a place. Talk to your study counselor or coordinator for more information. You may also take courses at other departments at GU or other Universities in Sweden.
The first part of the third semester consists of an eight-week Internship. The internship can also take place during the second half of the semester to accommodate for additional courses.
On the fourth semester you will complete your master’s thesis.
Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
Students with a Bachelor\'s degree in Gender Studies, or a Bachelor\'s thesis with a gender perspective written within another discipline, are eligible to apply for this programme. The programme co-ordinator for Gendering Practices is responsible for individual evaluations of Bachelor\'s theses from other disciplines than Gender Studies, to secure the level of each applicant s knowledges in the field of gender and feminist theory.
