Course Structure
- Cities and Metropolitan Areas: \xa0The program has five emphases: Urban Health and Quality of Life; Urban Governance and Politics; Race, Class, and City Policing; Critical Studies of Urban Transportation and Mobilities; and Globalization, Neoliberalization and the City.
- Geographic Information Science: \xa0Areas of emphasis include: CyberGIS, Spatiotemporal GIS, Satellite Remote Sensing, Spatial Analysis, Qualitative GIS, and GIS and Society.
- River, Watershed, and Landscape Dynamics: Using state-of-the-art field and laboratory equipment, researchers in this program tie together Geomorphological, Hydrological, and Ecological Processes and phenomena to advance understanding of Rivers, Watershed, and the Landscapes affected by them.
- Society, Space, and Environment: The program has four emphases: Development Geography, Urban Geography, Politics of the Environment, and The Political Economy of Crime.

Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Students applying for admission to the master\'s program are expected to have a strong undergraduate background in geography and/or related disciplines. In addition to other Graduate College admission requirements, a grade point average of at least 3.0 (A = 4.0) in the undergraduate major is required.\xc2\xa0
