Course Structure
- Environmental Science: ecosystem characteristics and processes and the movement of mass (materials, water, carbon and nutrients) and energy among the hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere and atmosphere; geomorphology; ecosystem science and management; field studies and modelling in hydrology and water chemistry; cold regions research; cryosphere research; wetland studies; climatic change processes and impacts; applied aspects of physical geography.
- Geomatics: spatial data handling from acquisition by remote sensing, aerial photography, and global positioning systems; storage, manipulation, display and modelling by geographic information systems; spatial pattern analysis and spatial applications of multivariate statistical procedures; spatial optimization and spatial data models.

After you have submitted your online application, paid the non-refundable application fee, and Laurier has received your application, you\'ll receive an email advising you to upload the additional required documentation to Laurier\xc2\x92s Online Viewing system.
An application for admission to our MA/MES/MSc program in Geography must include:
- The application summary available from the online application.
- Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.
- A completed statement of intent.
- A r\xc3\xa9sum\xc3\xa9 of your academic and work experience. Include a history of your publication and scholarly paper activity and any other information you feel will interest the admissions committee.
- A sample of your scholarly writing (10-20 pages in length). This may be a paper written for a senior undergraduate course.
- Completed reference forms. Three academic references are required. Note: Reference forms are electronically submitted to Laurier by the referee and do not need to be uploaded.
Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential to graduate studies at Laurier. Applicants whose language of instruction during their previous postsecondary education was not in English must submit evidence of proficiency in English. If applicable, results from accepted testing services must be uploaded to Laurier\xc2\x92s Online Viewing system.
Program Requirements
- A 4-year honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Physical Geography, Environmental or Earth Sciences, Geomatics, or a related field.
- A minimum B average.
- Applications are reviewed by the graduate program committee, which considers all prior university grades, a statement of research interest, a writing sample and letters of reference.
English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
