Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Proof of a Bachelor\'s degree in German Studies or an equivalent final degree from a university in Germany or abroad, including proof of courses successfully completed with a minimum of 72 credit points in German Studies. If the applicant provides proof of a minimum of 40 credit points but less than 72 credit points before the application deadline, they may be granted admission provided they obtain the required proof no later than the end of their first year of study. If proof is not provided to the Examination Committee within the deadline mentioned, the student will no longer be allowed to continue their program. Their enrollment will be canceled without further notice. The Examination Committee determines the proof required. The department ensures the courses offered will be held. In cases of doubt, the Examination Committee will make a decision on the conditions for admission.

- It is assumed that students have sufficient active and passive knowledge of the English language to read specialist literature in English and participate in courses taught in English. Proof is not required.
- In addition, students are required to have sufficient active and passive knowledge of another modern foreign language (e.g. French, Italian, Russian) to read specialist literature or sufficient knowledge of Latin (verification not required).
