Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. The program is designed for individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Applicants who have not completed a bachelor\x92s degree in health information management may be required to register for additional courses. The type of additional course work will be determined after evaluation of transcripts and work experience. The Master's degree in Health Informatics does not lead to Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential.

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

IN-STATE STUDENTS must meet the following requirements:
  1. High School Curriculum: Regents\' Core: 19 units (from Core 4 Curriculum--see below)
  2. Either:
    1. High School Core GPA: GPA on the Core of at least 2.5 with a minimum overall ACT of 15 or SAT subscores of 450 in English and 460 in Math
    2. ACT/SAT: ACT composite of at least 23 or SAT subscores of 450 in English and 460 in Math with a minimum overall HS GPA of 2.0
  3. NO Developmental Courses Needed: Minimum ACT/SAT subscore of 18/450 in English and 19/460 in Math (Students meeting minimum admission standards except for the need for developmental courses must complete developmental courses at an institution that offers them during the summer in order to be admitted for the fall.)
OUT-OF-STATE AND HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS must meet the following requirements:
  1. One of the following:
    1. ACT/SAT: ACT composite of at least 26 or SAT subscores of 450 in English and 460 in Math with a minimum overall HS GPA of 2.0
    2. ACT/SAT and HS Core GPA: ACT composite of at least 23 or SAT subscores of 450 in English and 460 in Math AND HS GPA on at least 17 credits of the Core of at least 2.5
    3. Meet In-State Requirements: See above.
  2. NO Developmental Courses Needed: Minimum ACT/SAT subscore of 18/450 in English and 19/460 in Math (Students meeting minimum admission standards except for the need for developmental courses must complete developmental courses at an institution that offers them during the summer in order to be admitted for the fall.)
