Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Admissions Standards
We do not require any pre-requisite courses, but applicants must meet the minimum requirements for admissions enforced by The Graduate School of the University of Utah.
- A bachelor\xc2\x92s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university
- A 3.00 or higher undergraduate weighted mean GPA (this is a calculation of the average of combined GPAs from all institutions attended). If the undergraduate GPA is below 3.00, a GPA willl be calculated based on the last 60 semester hours of the undergraduate work for admission consideration.
- International applications only: A minimum TOEFL score of 80 iBT (550 pBT) or better, or a minimum IELTS band score of 6.5 or better.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
