Academic Requirements

1. The equivalent of a Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field

  • Historical Studies:

The equivalent of a Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field

You have a Bachelor\'s degree (Research University) in History.

  • Literary Studies:

You have a Bachelor\'s degree (Research University) in Greek and Latin languages and cultures, Dutch, Romance languages (Spanish or French), English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, American Studies or any other language, or a Bachelor\'s degree in literary studies.

  • Art and Visual Culture:

The equivalent of a Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field

You have a Bachelor\'s degree (Research University) in Art History, Cultural Studies or Greek and Latin languages and cultures.

2. Grade average

Your average grade during the second and third years of your BA studies was at least a 7.5 and your BA thesis received a grade of at least 8.0.

3. A proficiency in English

In order to take part in the programme, you need to have a sufficient level of English. This requirement has been satisfied when the student provides us with one of these documents:

  • TOEFL score of >250 (computer based)
  • ILTS score of >7.0
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), with a mark of at least C

4. Strong motivation

You are able to demonstrate your motivation for and affinity with (inter)national academic research.

A selection committee will review each application separately. Admission depends partially on a personal interview and the committee reserves the right to set additional criteria for admission if necessary.
