Academic Requirements

  • Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation
  • Applicants should have at least 12 credits of previous course work in history at the upper-division level.
  • Applicants planning to pursue the GIS track must have taken GIS for Social Sciences, Principles of Geographic Information Systems, an equivalent class, or present evidence that such a course will be completed prior\xc2\xa0
  • Applicants must submit, as part of their admissions application, a statement of interest in historical studies and personal goals that identifies which track the student wishes to pursue.\xc2\xa0
  • To be successful, an applicant must receive the support of someone in the department willing to chair the applicant\xc2\x92s graduate committee.
