Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.75 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

  • Two letters of recommendation from college instructors or supervisors who can speak to the applicant\'s academic ability
  • All tracks include 12 hours of core history coursework and 30 hours of option-specific coursework outlined in the program guide. Graduation requirements differ for each track:
    • Thesis option: write a thesis of 60\xc2\x96100 pages and orally defend it in the last semester of study.
    • Non-thesis option: take three written and one oral examination in the last semester of study to demonstrate mastery of content, historiography, and research methodology provided in coursework.
    • Public history option: complete and defend a substantial research project with written and multimedia components.
