Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
- Students wishing to enroll in the Master of Science in HLT should have some prior training in either linguistics or language-related liberal arts disciplines, or the more scientific fields that HLT includes - computer science, mathematics, or engineering. Applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Prospective applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA in order to qualify for admission.
- Applicants must submit a concise statement of intent demonstrating their academic goals, career goals, and why a graduate degree in linguistics would help him/her pursue these goals.
- Applicants must provide a writing sample to demonstrate their level and proficiency of writing.
- The GRE is required for the HLT Program.
- Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation from letter writers who know the students work, specifically assessing students ability to carry out graduate work in linguistics. Applicants are encouraged to submit letters of recommendation from professors who are familiar with the applicant\'s recent academic work.
