Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
The application process and entrance examination is administered by the RCA.
Applicants must normally have a Upper Second Class Honours degree (2:1) or higher in engineering or a relevant technical degree.
In addition, the IDE course would suit people from a creative or design background with a strong interest and aptitude in innovation.
Some applicants with business or other commercial backgrounds are also considered. Mature candidates with industrial experience are particularly welcome.
Entrance exam part 1: All candidates are required to submit a portfolio of work to be assessed by the programme team. See the RCA\'s website for guidance on the portfolio.
Entrance exam part 2: Selected applicants are invited to the programme for an entrance examination which comprises of an interview (15 minutes in duration, with staff and a student representative) and a creative exercise (one hour).
