You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Admission Requirements

Students may apply through the Office of Graduate Admission. Admission to the MSEd in Inclusive Secondary Special Education program in the Department of Specialized Programs in Education is based on a comprehensive review of multiple criteria, including the following:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a liberal arts and sciences concentration.
  • A completed application form to the master\xc2\x92s program.
  • Completion of General Education Core prerequisites for teacher education programs (see below).
  • Completion of a minimum 36 s.h. of course work in the content area in which certification is being sought.
  • A minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  • Two letters of recommendation of which at least one addresses the applicant\xc2\x92s potential to succeed in the teaching of students with disabilities.
  • A written personal statement of professional intent.
  • Interview with a faculty member in special education.
  • SPED 201 - The Exceptional Child or equivalent course (3 s.h.)

The department understands that any single criterion may not reliably predict a student\xc2\x92s potential for success in a graduate program. Consequently, candidates are welcome to apply if they do not meet one of the criteria but feel that other aspects of their experience may compensate.
