Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Transcript(s) from undergraduate or graduate institution(s) you have attended
  • o The Office of Graduate Studies requires a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA for admission.
  • o Applicants may attach a scanned version of their official transcript from their undergraduate institution, as
  • well as a scanned version of their official transcripts from any post-bachelor institution to the online
  • application. Because these transcripts are not coming directly from the institution, KU does not consider
  • them official. However, you may be admitted with unofficial transcripts.
  • Writing sample of at least 10 pages
  • \xc2\xa02-page personal statement explaining how a master\'s degree in Indigenous Studies will benefit you and why you
  • will successfully complete the degree
