Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

Prerequisites

You need a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree or equivalent to enroll in the ILT master\xc2\x92s program. A Colorado teaching license is not required, but access to a school (where you teach or do volunteer work) is important for completion of projects.

Courses

The program requires completion of a plan of study consisting of 30 credits of required courses, including an internship. The internship may be done at your place of work with faculty approval. Most courses are online, but some required courses are offered on evenings and weekends. You can take classes at your own pace as they fit your scheduling needs.

Portfolio

As you complete courses you will add products to a professional portfolio. This portfolio is submitted to faculty your final semester and serves as the comprehensive exam for the master\xc2\x92s degree. Links to recent portfolios can be found on the ILT resources page; reviewing this work can give you an idea of the kind of courses, projects, and careers our students engage in.

Tools

We use the Canvas course management system for all courses. Canvas is like Blackboard or Moodle, a place where you can submit assignments, download documents, and participate in discussions. You will have access to Canvas once you are registered and courses begin. We also use Adobe Connect, a webinar and synchronous communication tool, in some of our courses. Use of this tool is provided to students in this program. Faculty and students use email as a major form of communication both within and external to Canvas. Other software tools include MSWord, MSPowerPoint, and various Web 2.0, open source and freeware tools. You would typically select specific authoring tools for various projects and assignments based on the needs of the project.

Access

You need home access to a computer (Windows or Mac) with a high-speed Internet connection.
