Program Overview
The Fine Arts at Bergen National Academy of the Arts is a MA programme in Arts & Design taught in English, Norwegian over 18 months, delivered On-campus. This programme equips graduates with advanced knowledge and practical skills for professional and academic careers in the field.

Academic Requirements
The Master in Fine Art builds on a Bachelor in Fine Art or other relevant education corresponding to 180 study credits. Applicants that have to apply for visa, must upload the bachelor diploma not later than February 1.
Applicants are assessed on the basis of a written Statement of Motivation, submitted documentation of relevant artistic production (portfolio), and an interview.
Applicants who are not EU/EEA citizens must provide documentation of financing their studies. Applicants who are not able to upload proof of financing their studies (approx. NOK 104 000) will not be considered for admission, regardless of other qualifications.
The Statement of Motivation sholud be 1-2 pages (NB! not more than 2 pages).
The statement should demonstrate:
- Why you are applying to the MA at KHIB and what expectations you have for MA studies at KHiB
- How you work artistically; what methods, media etc. you intend to use
- Your critical reflections and thoughts around your artistic work to date
- Which artistic themes or questions you propose to investigate during your MA studies
- What context you relate your artistic practice to
