- Music 201 (Projects in New Music Performance) as outlined
- Music 210 (Musical Analysis)
- Music 228 (Conducting) optional for Integrative Studies students
- Music 229 (Orchestration) - Composition students only
- Music 291 (Problems and Methods of Music Research and Performance). Composition students may substitute music 271 (Electronic Music Techniques).
- Music 201 (A, B, C, D, E or F) - Must take at least two times
- Music 203 A,B,C - Successful completion of the jury process is necessary to get a passing grade in the quarter enrolled
- Music 203D - After successful completion of 203C, students must enroll in Music 203D (with their committee chair) every quarter until graduation
- Music 204 - Every quarter until graduation
- Music 206 or 207 (or 208 A,B, or C by petition) - A combination of any three courses
- Music 271 A and B - must take both courses
Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
All sections of the official UCSD Application for Graduate Admission with the $90 non-refundable fee for U.S. residents and $110 non-refundable fee for International students must be submitted by December 1. Please apply online on the University\'s Website.
The following documents MUST be submitted online through the OGS Admissions. Files must be in PDF.
- Statement of Purpose (submitted online through the OGS Admissions website).
- Three Letters of Recommendation required: submitted through the OGS Admissions online application.
- Unofficial transcripts (from all institutions attended) required. Scanned and uploaded copies of transcripts may be submitted through the OGS Admissions website. Upon provisional admission to graduate study at UC San Diego: Official hard copy transcripts from all institutions attended and from the institution where you obtained your undergraduate/graduate degree will be required to finalize your admission and must be submitted to the Graduate Admissions office.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test scores are REQUIRED for all applicants. Score information can be input on the OGS Admissions online application.

- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores are REQUIRED for all applicants whose country of citizenship does not have English as its primary language, unless you have been enrolled in a full-time program of study for at least one year in an English speaking country. The minimum score is 550 for the paper-based test (PBT), 213 for the computer-based test (CBT), or 80 for the internet-based test (iBT). Arrangements may be made at the nearest US Embassy, or by contacting Educational Testing Service (ETS), Princeton, NJ (609) 771-7100.
