Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Criteria of Admission

  • Excellence of the candidate:\xc2\xa0outstanding achievement in the applicant\xc2\x92s first degree which should be in either electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline. The candidate will have to justify an equivalent of B in the European standard (corresponding to a minimum of 2.1 honours in the United Kingdom).
  • Language ability:\xc2\xa0teaching being given in English, the candidates must demonstrate sound knowledge of the language. The requirement for competence in English is equivalent to IELTS at grade 6.5 overall and 6.0. in each skill, or a Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English at least grade B.
  • Student motivation\xc2\xa0to undertake the Masters and relevance to his or her professional development.
  • Gender balance:\xc2\xa0for applicants having similar qualifications, the minority gender will be preferred.
  • English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
