Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Candidates with a bachelor\'s degree with 2:1 honours (or overseas equivalent) in law, or in degrees with a 70% law content or in the Graduate Diploma Legal Studies (obtained from a UK institution).
If you have a borderline 2:2 (ie 59%) and 3-5 years\' experience in a leading law firm as a practicing solicitor OR have passed a bar exam and are working as a practicing lawyer, your application will be considered. Where your subsequent work experience is not directly related to law (eg a contracts manager), a more extensive practical experience would be expected than in the previous category of case. Ultimately, however, these are general guidelines and the strength of each application is determined on a case-by-case basis. Applicants from non-law backgrounds will be considered.

English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
