Program Curriculum

The dissertation forms a third of the MRes degree and takes around four months to complete. The topic selected should build on the review essay(s).
You will develop your skills in conducting a research-based project and disseminating your findings through a poster and a presentation. The syllabus of the module will be specific to you and decided in agreement with your supervisors.
You will work on a small-scale project that can be completed and presented within the term. You should work with various online and written resources to learn the required skills that you had not acquired before, but need for your studies. These relevant skills will depend on the projects you are conducting.
Depending on your specific project, some examples of the skills you might acquire include:
- use of LaTeX and BibTeX
- advanced spreadsheet modelling
- statistical analysis using various tools
- computer programming
- data visualisation.
This module will introduce you to research design in business and management. It emphasises the role of different research designs and strategies in acquiring knowledge about management, as well as how to develop meaningful research. The module serves as a foundation for understanding and evaluating the different types of research, while also providing an opportunity for you to reflect on these concepts in relation to your own research.
