  • A first Bachelor or comparable (or higher) degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Oceanography or closely related fields with an overall grade of at least 2.5 or B according to the German and American grading schemes respectively; from a university with a regular value of 180 ECTS points is required.
  • English level C1 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • An essay (Letter of Motivation) explaining why you are choosing this program and what your research interests are.
  • Two letters of recommendation [pdf] which must not be older than 2 years, from one university teacher and one of a stated sea-biological scientist.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
