Program Curriculum
Course Structure

A Master of Arts degree in Journalism is also available and a new Ph.D. program began in Fall 2007.\', \'Journalism students typically have interests in writing, reporting, copy editing, graphic design, multimedia and photography. They often are interested in people and are naturally curious. High school preparation should include courses in English and creative writing. Working in high school publications would also be beneficial, but not necessary.\', "In 2009, the Gaylord College was chosen as a partner school by the Scripps Howard Foundation enabling OU students to receive special grants and internships. Journalism students compete with others across the nation for internships in major markets. More students from Gaylord College\'s programs participate in internships than any other college at OU. Students are encouraged to supplement traditional classroom experience with on-the-job training. The college\'s location on the edge of the Oklahoma City metropolitan market provides students with outstanding professional opportunities while earning a degree. Opportunities abound across the U.S. as well.", \'Many Journalism students choose to participate in Student Media. The Oklahoma Daily, Sooner yearbook and other feature publications are award-winning projects that give students the opportunity to gain experience in the field prior to graduation. Journalism students regularly compete at the national level and receive internships and jobs from top-tier media outlets.\']
