Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Lower Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Lower Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

This course is designed for practitioners, in particular middle and senior managers. Entry requirements for the programme are either: a) An honours degree with a 2.2 classification or better in any subject from a UK university or the equivalent from a recognised university overseas, together with current work experience in the management of public services gained either in public, commercial or not-for-profit organisations; or b) five or more years current work experience in the management of public services gained either in public, commercial or not-for-profit organisations, supplemented by evidence of relevant professional development and training.

Where English is not the first language an IELTS score of 6.5, or 6.0 plus completion of the University’s four-week English course, or equivalent, is required.

All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered:

- GCSE English language grade A-C

- IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)

Other English language tests are accepted.
