Academic Requirements
All applicants to the Department of Linguistics are required to submit the following materials along with the online application:

- GRE scores
- Three letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose
- TOEFL or IELTS scores for those applicants whose native language is other than English
- They strongly recommended that all applicants submit a sample of written work that demonstrates the applicant\'s scholarly ability (term paper, senior thesis, etc.). The written sample need not deal with linguistics. If the work is in a language other than English, a summary in English should be attached.
- They are looking for students with strong academic records who show breadth and depth of interests, and the potential for creativity in pursuing a successful linguistics program. A tuition award (for reduced tuition) is available for the strongest applicants.
