Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

An NQF 4, or international equivalent, in a relevant subject. You will be also be required to submit a portfolio to \xc2\x91credit\xc2\x92 other academic and life experience and also confirm that you are able to perform at the appropriate academic level.

OR

An NQF 5, or international equivalent, in a relevant subject. You will not be required to submit a portfolio.

We will also consider your application on an individual basis if you have relevant experience, voluntary or paid, of working with individuals who experience mental health difficulties.

We expect you to have a high standard of:

  • written ability
  • computer literacy
  • the ability to develop good therapeutic relationships

You also need to meet the trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) national person specification and be able to demonstrate good communication skills and other core requirements. The\xc2\xa0Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) website\xc2\xa0has examples of PWP specifications.

International Students

To study this course you need to meet the following\xc2\xa0English\xc2\xa0Language requirements:

Direct Entry: IELTS 7.O overall\xc2\xa0(with at least 8.0 reading, 7.0 in speaking and listening and 6.0 in writing)

Pre-sessional English Language courses are not accepted\xc2\xa0as an alternative entry to this course.

English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
