Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

To begin the admission process, you choose one of the following paths.

Admission Path A
  • One organizational behavior course or business rhetoric course (chosen from the list of elective courses)
    • To register for an organizational behavior course, you must pass the critical reading and writing skills test.
  • One economics course
  • One accounting course

You need to have an undergraduate degree to begin taking degree-applicable courses. The admission courses must be 4-credit, graduate-level courses. You complete all admission courses with a grade of B or higher, without letting your overall Harvard cumulative GPA dip below 3.0.

Admission Path B

This alternative path consists of:

  • HBX CORe course, Harvard Business School\'s online credential that introduces students to the language of business (noncredit or credit)
  • One organizational behavior course or business rhetoric course (chosen from the list of elective courses), taken at the graduate level (you must have an undergraduate degree to take this course for admission)

Achieve a passing grade for HBX CORe and a B grade or higher in the other admission course\xc2\x97achieving a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher\xc2\x97and you qualify for admission.

Please note: HBX CORe does not count for credit toward the degree (even the credit version) and does not replace the economics or accounting degree requirements, so you will still need to complete those courses after admission to the program. You may take CORe before you have completed an undergraduate degree.

English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
