Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Applicants must hold a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Transcripts must be provided from all colleges and universities previously attended.
Two years of relevant work experience are required. It is up to the Admission Committee to determine whether work experience is relevant. Internships may be considered as work experience. Applicants must submit current resume/curriculum vitae.
The UF College of Journalism and Communications requires that all applicants have a 3.0 GPA in all college hours after the first 60 semester/90 quarter hours of their undergraduate program. The GPA for graduate work is not used to determine eligibility.
Prospective students who have taken the GRE prior to August 2011 will be required to have a 550 Verbal and 550 Quantitative on the old scale. This corresponds to 156 on Verbal and 146 on Quantitative for the new scale. Applicants who have GRE scores that are more than five years old must retake the exam.
Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation. These references should come from professional or academic references.
All applicants must submit a personal goal statement.
