Possible career opportunities Graduates will be well placed to take up a wide range of pedagogical and didactic leadership positions in the Luxembourg education system, including but not limited to instituteur spécialisé positions. The graduates will be particularly well equipped to provide advice and leadership on matters of governance in education. Following international trends in teacher professionalisation, the Luxembourg fundamental education ecosystem is gradually complementing its teaching staff—traditionally generalist teachers in fundamental education—with specialised teachers (and other specialists). Those recent developments, in combination with both prevalent teacher shortage and pressing (inter)national educational challenges ensure stable employment and fast-growing professional opportunities for future graduates. More info Download the flyer Possible career trajectories Master level teaching careers Three specialised Master-level teaching careers have recently been established: Instituteur spécialisé pour la prise en charge des élèves à besoins spécifiques (I-EBS); Instituteurs spécialisés en développement scolaire (I-DS); Instituteur spécialisé en compétences numériques (I-CN). Regional directors and deputy directors are also (potentially) Master-level careers. Next to this non-exhaustive list of prospective Master-level opportunities in national (fundamental) education, graduates will also be well placed to take up a wide range of pedagogical and didactic leadership functions in the system, including school president, member of a school committee, coordinateur de cycle, formateur de terrain, conseiller pédagogique, and personne de référence. The Education in the Digital Age: Opportunities and Challenges course, accordingly, focuses on exploring and critically reflecting on the global megatrends and their inherent impact on education. In accordance with the OECD (2025) report “Trends Shaping Education” the course will deal with five intertwining topics: a) education in the AI age, b) democracy, media literacy and critical thinking skills, c) shifts in working expectations and flexibility, d) climate education, and e) knowledge, skills and attitudes for the future. To critically reflect and discuss on the impacts on education, students will work with several scenarios, “trigger” questions, and empirical studies that will support the development of a group project exploring the many futures of education, with particular focus on the implications for schooling in Luxembourg. Admission Requirements

(semester 1,2,3,4) Format: Part-time programme Specific information for this programme Requirements The applicant must: • hold a 240 ECTS Bachelor’s degree in educational sciences (or a comparable 240 ECTS higher education degree qualifying for teaching in fundamental school); • be a practicing teaching professional in—or around—Luxembourg fundamental education; • have already completed the mandatory traineeship (stage) for job starters at the Institut de formation de l’Éducation nationale (IFEN) Be proficient in all three administrative languages (i.e., French, German, Luxembourgish) and have a reasonable command of English.
