This course clarifies what “European Media Law“ is and how it has come into existence. In doing so, an overview is given of potential legal bases for action in this field by the EU as well as referring to the relevance of the Council of Europe. As a result it becomes evident how significant the role is that the EU plays today in the shaping of the media and communications sector: starting with an analysis of the relevant fundamental rights, displaying the applicable fundamental freedoms

Admission Requirements

(semester 3,4) Format: Full-time programme (Part-time student status allowed) Specific information for this programme Requirements Students can enter directly into the second year of this programme (M2) with the goal of obtaining a Master degree. This requires the successful completion of four years of studies amounting to 240 ECTS (or equivalent value), typically by having obtained a Master degree in law or equivalent studies including courses on European law. Students will be admitted upon decision of an admissions committee.Applicants who have successfully completed three years of studies amounting to 180 ECTS (or equivalent value, typically a Bachelor in Law or equivalent studies) are eligible to apply for the common first year of the Master in Law programmes at the University of Luxembourg (M1). It offers a variety of courses in European and international law from which students may choose in order to prepare for the specific requirements of the second year, including the Master in Space, Communication and Media Law (M2). English: B2 French: B2 for the first year and B1 for the second yearPlease note that excellent applications will be considered without having this level of French, as supporting language classes will be offered and entering the programme with a very advanced level of English (only) and a background in the topics dealt with in the programme is possible subject to a decision by the admissions committee.
