The Department of Art & Design offers graduate programs leading to the Doctor of Philosophy in the History of Art, Design, and Visual Culture as well as the Master of Arts degree in the History of Art, Design, and Visual Culture. The MA can be either course-based or thesis-based. The HADVC programs provide students with resources, training, and a dynamic intellectual environment for advanced study and research. Students have access to a well-endowed University library, museum collections, and a departmental visual resources centre. Five full-time professors and two professors with joint appointments in East Asian Studies and the Science, Technology, and Society program are available for supervision of theses and dissertations.
