Program Overview
The aim of the programme is to educate you into the profession of a Dental Surgeon with a broad academic dental education, where you will be able to function in all areas of clinical dentistry practising evidence-based comprehensive dentistry based on a problem solving approach, using basic theoretical and practical skills. Furthermore, this course of study will prepare you to be sufficiently trained in dental science, and are able to work with other dental and health care professionals in the health care system (both public and private). As a Dental Surgeon, you will be prepared for life-long learning and continuing professional development that is essential in the modern professional world. Career Opportunities
As a graduate, this degree will enable you to practice dentistry both in private practice and in institutional settings. It will provide an entry level degree allowing you to profess to postgraduate studies. Fields for postgraduate study include areas of research in all fields of dentistry (leading to Master's or Doctorate-level degrees), as well as clinical postgraduate training in any of the dental specialities such as: Orthodontics Prosthodontics Restorative dentistry Endodontics Oral surgery Oral medicine/pathology Paediatric dentistry Dental Public Health Dental Radiology

Admission Requirements
General Entry Requirements Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications Special Course Requirements two Advanced Level passes at Grade C or better in Biology and Chemistry and an Intermediate Level pass at Grade C or better in Physics, provided that all passes in these Special Course Requirements have been obtained together in one session of examinations (i.e. one sitting) and are from one recognized examining board. Applicants in possession of the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) with at least Second Class (Honours) in Dental Hygiene or Dental Technology may also apply. Maltese applicants who, in terms of paragraph (5) of regulation 12 of the Admissions Regulations, 2016 are exempted from possessing a pass in Secondary Education Certificate in Maltese at Grade 5 or better are required to present the Medical Maltese Proficiency Certificate awarded by the University of Malta prior to commencement of the Course and non-Maltese applicants are required to present the Medical Maltese Proficiency Certificate awarded by the University of Malta, or a pass in the study-unit in Medical Maltese as part of the Certificate in Foundation Studies (Medical, Dental and Health Sciences) course, prior to commencement of the Course, provided that applicants presenting overseas qualifications and a pass in the Secondary Education Certificate examination in Maltese at Grade 5 or better shall be exempted from presenting the Medical Maltese Proficiency Certificate. Notes and any other requirements For the purpose of the above paragraphs, a pass obtained in a session of examinations which is held after the results of a previous session were published shall be deemed to be a pass obtained in a session that is distinct from the previous one. This regulation shall also apply to the second session of the Matriculation Examination offered by the MATSEC Board of the University of Malta according to the provisions of the Matriculation Examination Regulations and this notwithstanding
