Program Overview

The Master of Science in Molecular Medicine is a programme offered by the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Biobanking that provides an introductory route through one of the many research groups that tackles a number of molecules and cell pathways that are responsible for cell function, both in health and disease. The fusion of cells throughout a human's lifetime are grouped into 250 different cell types which are then further categorised into four basic tissues, providing a complex organ system that makes up the body as a whole. Understanding the molecular aspects that give rise to orchestrated cell function is a means to be better informed in enhancing and providing novel ways to treat diseases, such a cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke and neurodegenerative disorders, the four major causes of a premature end to life.
