Academic Requirements

  • A/AS-levels in General Studies, Critical Thinking, or Global Perspectives \xc2\x96 College policy: Please note that these subjects are not accepted by King\'s as part of our A-level or AS-level requirements. However, we may take account of your grade if you have just fallen short of the conditions of our offer and we are considering whether or not to accept you onto the course.
  • A-levels: AAA including Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. We will accept Further Mathematics at AS level grade A only if you additionally achieve a 3 in any STEP paper or a Merit in AEA Mathematics.
  • Access to HE Diploma: Access to Maths/Maths & Science (or similar) Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits: 36 must be from units awarded at Distinction, with the remaining Level 3 credits at Merit. You must study a significant amount of Physics and Mathematics (containing pure mathematics) at Level 3 with Distinctions.
  • Cambridge Pre-U: Three Pre-U Principal subjects at D3 D3 D3 including Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics (full course).
  • We will only accept the one year Short Course in Further Mathematics if you additionally achieve a 3 in any STEP paper or a Merit in AEA Mathematics. We will consider combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels).
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (QCF from 2010): Extended Diploma in Applied Science at DDM with 11 Distinctions, in addition to grade A in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics A-level.
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma (QCF from 2010): Diploma in Applied Physics at DD with eight Distinctions, in addition to grade A in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics
  • A-level.
  • BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma (QCF from 2010): Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Physics at D with four modules at Distinction and two A-levels at grades AA, including grade A in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics A-level.
  • Scottish Highers & Advanced Highers: AAB at Higher in one sitting and AA at Advanced Higher including grade A in Advanced Higher Maths and Physics (we do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject).
  • International Baccalaureate: Pass the IB Diploma with a total of at least 35 points, with three Higher Level subjects at 666 in Physics and Mathematics. Note the total point score of 35 includes TOK/EE.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
