Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. [\'Business and Technology: This block contains four specific courses that integrate both contents from business and informatics. All course formats are highly interactive and will be partly conducted as so called "project courses" in close collaboration with companies from the media and Internet industry.\', \'Media Business: The three courses of "Media Business" address media-related topics from a business perspective. The courses "Digital Products and Services" and "Electronic Markets" will be taken together with students from other master\\\'s program at Munich School of Management.\', "Media Technologies: This block comprises two lectures that are offered by the Institute for Informatics and which address media-related issues from a technological perspective. Again, parts of this lectures will be taken together with students from other master\'s program at the Institute for Informatics.", \'Electives: Students of the MMT program have the opportunity to elect (advanced) courses from both business and informatics according to their preferences and interests. For this reason, a broad catalogue of courses is provided by both faculties. Each student must acquire in total 18 ECTS credit points, thereof at least 6 credit points in each discipline.\', \'Finale Module: During their 4th semester, students of the MMT program are required to write their master thesis about a relevant topic at one of the participating institutes respectively chairs from the Munich School of Management or the Institute for Informatics.\']

Application Requirements

Following documents are required for a complete application:

  • A copy of your CV.
  • A copy of your bachelor certificate demonstrating a grade of 2.3 or better according to the German grading system
    • in business administration or a related field (at least 180 ECTS credit points) with a minor in informatics (at least 20 ECTS credit points must be passed in the minor - excluding the credit points of a final thesis) or
    • in informatics or a related field (at least 180 ECTS credit points) with a minor in business administration (at least 20 ECTS credit points must be passed in the minor - excluding the credit points of a final thesis).
  • A proof of your English skills that matches the level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - if you are not a native English speaker or if you have not obtained your bachelor\'s degree or high school diploma with English instruction language.

Due to internal requirements, international applicants with foreign academic qualification need to provide a (if necessary officially translated) copy of their (completed) bachelor\'s certificate at the time of their application. However, for German citizens and foreign students that are currently pursuing a bachelor\'s degree program at a German university a different regulation applies if no bachelor\'s certificate is available at the time of their application:

If you are unable to provide a bachelor\'s certificate and/or the necessary amount of credit points at the time of your application, you still have the opportunity to apply for the MMT program if you can hand in a transcript of records by your current university. This transcript of records of your bachelor\'s program needs to prove at least 140 completed ECTS credit points with an average grade of 2.3 or better according to the German grading system, thereof

  • at least 15 ECTS credit points in informatics if you study business administration (or a related field) or
  • at least 15 ECTS credit points in business administration if you study informatics (or a related field).

The proof of your English skills is, however, indispensable. Accepted candidates must be able to provide their certificate of a completed bachelor\'s degree (at least 180 ECTS credit points including 20 ECTS credit points in the minor) during the first year of their MMT studies at LMU, otherwise the admission will be withdrawn subsequently. Additionally, we provide all candidates that have successfully passed the candidate assessment (see 6) the chance to acquire 5 ECTS credit points of the required 20 ECTS credit points in the minor during the first year of the master\'s studies at LMU - if they did / do not have the opportunity to acquire sufficient minor credit points in their former undergraduate program.
