Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.7 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Program Specific Admittance Guidelines
- Bachelor\'s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- GPA of 2.7 or higher in most recent degree
- Passing score on the GACE Program Admission Assessment, or one of the following exemption options:
- Teacher certification
- Passing score on the GACE Program Admission Assessment
- ACT score of 43 or higher (English/Math)
- SAT score of 1000 (Verbal/Math)
- GRE score of 297 (Verbal/Quantitative)

- Submit an application (APPLY ONLINE) and pay the non-refundable $40.00 application fee (in US dollars only). UWG cannot process your application until we receive your $40.00 non-refundable application fee. You can submit your payment by check or money order in the amount of $40.00 made payable to the University of West Georgia.
- Submit one official transcript from each college or university you have attended. Foreign Credential Evaluation for all university-level course work obtained outside of the United States by an independent credential evaluation service is required. The evaluation must be a course-by-course evaluation with an overall grade point average. Students applying to the College of Education must have their evaluation completed by Josef Silny & Associates, Inc. or the Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.

- Submit (using University of West Georgia Institution Code: 5900) an official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score for the masters (MA, MS, MEd, MPA) degree programs and the doctoral programs (Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology: Consciousness and Society and Ed.D. Program in School Improvement). Prepare yourself to take the GRE Revised General Test, which was launched August, 2011, by clicking here.
- Submit (using University of West Georgia Institution Code: 5900) an official Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score for the MBA and MPAcc degree programs.
- Unless you have earned a degree from an American college or university, all students from non-English speaking countries must supply acceptable proof of English proficiency. In most cases, this will take the form of a TOEFL iBT or IELTS examination. The minimum scores required for the TOEFL iBT would be a 79, or an IELTS of 6.5, for graduate-level studies..
- UWG can only accept test scores officially submitted to the institution. Applicants must request the scores be submitted to UWG in order for them to be received.
