Language and Mind-Linguistics And Cognitive Studies

Course Structure

1. A thorough understanding of the theoretical models and methods of analysis of the current linguistic, including experimental methodologies and field research;
2. The ability to apply theories and methods of linguistic research to the description and analysis of particular languages, in comparative perspective;
3. Familiar with different aspects of the interdisciplinary study of language as a cognitive ability, the acquisition of the first and second language, the relationship between mind, brain and language;
4. Familiarity with the philosophical issues behind the study of language as a cognitive ability and the relationship between mind and language, as well as the relationship between logic, inference and meaning in natural languages;
5. The ability to use theories and methods of linguistics in the context of different application domains such as language teaching, the study of disorders of language, computational applications, experimentation psycholinguistics
6. A thorough knowledge of current theoretical models related to persuasive communication;
7. Adequate critical capacity that allows to compare the current models of communication with those in the tradition traceable semiotics, philosophy and rhetoric of the past, that the most recent are the foundation;
8. An in-depth analysis capabilities and production of texts, including multimedia, by designing and evaluating the effectiveness of communication and the impact on the recipients;
9. Adequate ability to design models and theories useful to prototype communication at different levels and with different technologies;
10. Methodological skills, coupled with technological skills, aimed at mastering both the traditional and new media, even in the domain of education.
