Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, in:

  • a science discipline
  • medicine
  • dentistry

For intercalated medical students, we need successful completion of your third or fourth year of medical school.

We will consider your application on an individual basis if you have lower qualifications and relevant professional experience. Graduates from more varied backgrounds who require a conversion course will be considered on an individual basis.

International Students

To study this course you need to meet the following English Language requirements:

Direct Entry: IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.5 in all sub-skills).

Pre-sessional English Language courses are not accepted as an alternative entry to this course.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
