["general knowledge of the cultural history of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (Master\'s level);", \'acquaintance with modern and old languages (an elementary knowledge of Latin is an asset);\', \'ability to read, speak and write effectively in English, as well as comprehend texts in French;\', \'basic knowledge of the methodology used in historical-philological research and/or in art history\']

Academic Requirements

All applicants are requested to submit the following information:

  • a detailed survey of previous studies, which shows that the candidate has a substantial academic background (on BA- or MA-level) in the field of study of the Middle Ages and/or the Renaissance.\xc2\xa0
  • Proof of proficiency in English: either an IELTS score of at least 7, or a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based test), 250 (computer-based test), or 100 (internet-based test). Applicants who hold a degree awarded by an English-speaking university from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the United States are exempt from this requirement.\xc2\xa0

English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
