Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

Following prerequisites course work are required to be admitted to the program:

1 Semester Object Oriented Programming (Sophomore level or above),
1 Semester Statistics/Probability (Sophomore level or above) , and
2 Semesters Calculus (Differential and Integral) or 1 Semester discrete mathematics or numerical methods (Sophomore level or above)

Successful candidates for graduate admission include applicants who have earned baccalaureate degrees in any Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related areas from colleges or universities of recognized standing and have earned a grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.

In addition the following are required:

  • Statement of Purpose

    Should be 300-500 words; any statement of purpose, which exceeds the 500-word limit, will be returned for revision. The statement describes the candidate\xc2\x92s purpose for undertaking or continuing graduate study, the reasons for wanting to study at Purdue University Northwest, and the candidate\xc2\x92s professional plans, career goals, and research interests. The candidate may also explain any irregularities or special circumstances applicable to their background and elaborate on their special abilities, awards, achievements, scholarly publications, and/or professional history.

  • Resume

    Description of the candidate\xc2\x92s education, work history, significant skills and experiences as well as accomplishments.

  • Letters of Recommendation

    Recommendations must come from three persons who can attest to the candidate\xc2\x92s academic ability and scholarly potential \xc2\x96 this does not include family, friends, ministers, etc. If the admissions committee determines that any of the three recommendations received are unacceptable, additional recommendations may be requested.

  • Transcripts

    Official original transcripts from each college or university the candidate has completed course work are required before an application can be processed.

  • Optionally

    The candidate may provide a sample of work that demonstrates writing proficiency and/or other important accomplishment that evidences their skills.
