Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
To apply for this program, you must meet the admissions requirements for both the MPA and MS in Crime and Justice Studies programs.
Decisions for admission to the MPA program are not based on a single factor. Your overall profile is considered. Included in the criteria are:
Prior academic performance.
Related work, professional, or volunteer experience.
Personal statement.
Recommendations (professional and/or academic).
Standardized test scores are helpful in the admission decision; however, they are not required for everyone. If you have less than three years of relevant work, professional, or volunteer experience, or less than a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in your undergraduate degree, a GMAT or GRE taken within the previous five years will be required.
Personal interview, if requested.
International applicants must submit proof of English proficiency via successful completion of the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE-Academic. Visit the International Students page for full details.
Suffolk University\'s Office of Graduate Admission has complete information regarding admission requirements, application deadlines and the online application process.
Want to "test drive" the program before applying? Consider taking a couple courses through the CAPS Program. Courses taken in the CAPS program will count toward your MPA degree requirements after acceptance.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
