Course Structure

  1. To help meet the counseling needs of the growing populations of diverse groups by training students from these populations.
  2. To develop a baseline of cross-cultural knowledge, awareness and advocacy for each student in the program.
  3. To develop counseling interventions and methodologies which are culture/life orientation appropriate for the needs of the various underrepresented populations needing to be served.
  4. To develop critical analyses for existing counseling theories as they apply to non-mainstream populations.
  5. To help place each participant into a field setting which will enhance her/his development as well as use the unique skills the participant already possesses.

Academic Requirements

Please supply the Community-Based Block Admissions Committee with a written picture of yourself. Remember that the criteria for the selection of CBB students include not only the University\'s criteria for acceptance into graduate study (i.e. GPA and GRE), but additional criteria as well.

Contact three individuals who you have interacted with both personally and professionally and would be able to write a letter of recommendation for you. Please request that they write their letter and have it ready for when the system is available since they will be needed quickly. Recommenders will submit their letters directly into the Online Program Application.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
