Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

All prospective students must submit sample work.

  • Applicants in musicology or performance practice should send one example of their written work, of at least 2,000 words in length
  • Applicants for degrees in music composition must send two or three scores and/or recordings of their previous compositional work
  • All applicants for performance pathways of the MA should submit a repertoire list. Overseas applicants should also submit a DVD of their playing of approximately 20 minutes\' duration; home applicants should be prepared to audition.

English language requirements

  • IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
  • TOEFL IBT 88 with no less than 20 in any band
  • Pearson Test of English - score 59

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
