Academic Requirements

Additional subject: All applicants are expected to have a solid basis in the field of political science / European Politics and External Relations, with a minimum of 60 ECTS earned during previous studies (including 20 ECTS on social sciences research method - see below - and preferably with a clear focus on European Politics and External Relations).

Grade average: Study results obtained in previous education should demonstrate that a student is able to attain and maintain a good to excellent level, especially in the field of political science / European Politics and External Relations.

\n

Grade list: All applicants are required to submit official transcripts of each higher education institute attended, listing all courses and examinations already completed and currently enrolled in, and grades and credits obtained.

\n

Knowledge minimum: Applicants should have a solid basis in both qualitative and quantitative social sciences research methodology as demonstrated by the completion of (the equivalent of) at least 20 ECTS during previous study.

\n

Previous education: Students with a Bachelor\'s degree in political science and international relations or in another closely related discipline (such as other social sciences, history, law and economics) are invited to apply, provided they meet all other entry requirements. International degrees are evaluated on the basis of advice from professional diploma evaluators. The minimum level of the degree should be equivalent to a Dutch academic Bachelor\'s degree.

Written request: All applicants are required to submit a statement of motivation.

Language test: As the Master\'s programme will be highly demanding and fully taught in English, a high level of English language proficiency is expected of all applicants. All students must be able to read textbooks, understand lectures, take part in classroom discussions and give presentations in English.\nTo ensure the quality of education and to safeguard students from failing their studies or slowing down class interactions, all non-native speakers need to demonstrate their proficiency in English before enrolment. All applicants who are nationals of countries other than Australia, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand are required to submit an English test score that meets specific requirements. Inability to do so will disqualify them from enrolment.
