Program Curriculum
Course Structure
- Processes of globalization which appear in different conceptual maps seen from the North, the South and the East (module 1: Globalization)
- Structures and institutions of a hierarchical world-system whose macrodynamics generate the scope for decentralized actors and structures of action (module 2: Global Governance)
- Scientific and everyday world views and identities in which violent ethnic, political and religious answers to cultural or economic homogenization and geographical distribution are mirrored, as well as the search for a fair world order (module 3: Cultural Change)
- Interdisciplinary mixed methods of inquiry which are required to decode these processes (4: Methodology)
Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
For your application to the Master in Social Sciences \xc2\x93Global Studies Programme\xc2\x94 the letter of motivation (essay) is most important. The essay should include your study intentions as well as your professionel intentions.
In addition your international experience, internships and volunteer work is important. Your certificates, as well as the CV and the recommendations are of course fundamental. The subject of your Bachelor\'s degree is less important, although a connection to Social Science topics should be presented.
If your have not studied social sience but your study and/or professionel intentions are related to Social Sciences and/or you have worked related to Social Sciences and Globalization you are eligible to apply for the Programme.
Your transcripts and diplomas should always be officially certified and translated into english (or german). If you are not finished with your Bachelor at the time of sending your application, please send us an official interim certificate of your university. The official diploma must be presented before enrolling at Freiburg university.
English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
