Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Admission Requirements:
  • An unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Tennessee or the state in which the clinical assignments are completed.
  • An earned Bachelor\'s degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Successful completion of a 3 semester hour or 4 quarter hour undergraduate level Statistics course.
  • Graduate school TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score as required by your TBR university. Consult the graduate admission requirements at each campus for further details.
  • Submission of all application documentation required by the Graduate School at the home campus to which the student is referred. Application requirements will vary slightly among the six TBR universities. Required documentation may include a resume or CV; a discussion of prior professional experience; future career goals; reasons for pursuing graduate study; and recommendations from persons familiar with the applicant\'s academic and professional background and experience in nursing practice, specifying in detail the applicant\'s capabilities for graduate study and for future practice as an advanced practice nurse.
  • Requirements for the RN with a BSN degree: completion of the BSN.
  • Requirements for the RN with a BA/BS non-nursing degree: completion of the following 12 units RN/MSN nursing bridge sequence: NURS 4210 Healthcare Research; NURS 4211 Nursing Leadership and Management; NURS 4212 Trends and Issues in Nursing and Healthcare; NURS 4213 Community Health Nursing. RN to MSN graduates will not be awarded the BSN degree.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
