Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Specific criteria required by the Nursing Department include:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. When GPA is below this, provisional acceptance may be considered if the candidate demonstrates graduate study potential by other means.
  • Satisfactory completion of an undergraduate statistics course (equivalent to Math 130) and a research course in nursing.
  • Three current academic and/or professional references.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania or in the state where clinical practice or internship is to be arranged.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in nursing.
  • Current resume including one clinical experience.
  • Successful completion of a personal interview with the Nursing Admissions Committee.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6 or equivalent.
