Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

Applicants should have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subject of Health, be working in an Advanced Practitioner role and have a minimum of five years work experience in their current role.
Applicants will also need to identify an appropriate work based medical facilitator for support in developing the advanced clinical practice competencies and, for those applying for an SHA funded place, have support from their line manager who will also confirm the release for attendance onto the course.
All suitable candidates will be invited to attend an interview at which they will be required to:

  • Submit their professional portfolio supported by a statement (2000 words max) summarising achievements in practice;
  • Articulate awareness and significance of Advanced Practice roles and issues;
  • Be able to locate self/professional role within the Advanced Practice context and therefore provide evidence for the reason for the application;
  • Articulate the ability to study at a Postgraduate level and to develop the skills of an Advanced Practitioner and therefore show awareness of the course demands;
  • Satisfy the requirements for access to the Non-medical prescribing module as dictated by the NMC/HCPC.
