Cancer Sciences
- Oncology welcomes applications from international and Canadian students who meet the following requirements:
- GPA of at least 3.3/4 (B+) and a BSc or equivalent.
For international students:
Proof of English proficiency. If your earlier education was at a foreign academic institution, and that school is not recognized by the University of Alberta as having English language instruction, you will require one of the following:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper-based) or 100 iBT (internet-based)
- IELTS: minimum score of 7, with at least 6 in each of the four modules that include listening, academic writing, academic reading and speaking
- Pearson Test of English Academic: minimum score of 68
International students are not required to take the GRE test. However, all international students whose applications are reviewed favourably by the admissions committee will be required to participate in a telephone or SKYPE interview with prospective supervisors before the committee reaches a final decision on acceptance.
Medical Physics
Medical Physics students must have a baccalaureate degree or equivalent, usually in Physics or Engineering, having attained a minimum GPA of B+ or 3.3/4.
For international students:
A GRE Physics subject test score is required with a minimum score of 850.
English language proficiency. If your earlier education was at a foreign academic institution, and that school is not recognized by the University of Alberta as having English language instruction, you will require one of the following:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper version), 250 (electronic version), 100 (internet version)
- MELAB: minimum score of 85
- IELTS: minimum overall band score of 7.0, with no less than a score of 6 on each band
- CAEL: minimum overall score of 70, with no less than 60 on each subtest
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): minimum overall score of 68
English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
