Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
To qualify for admission into the M.A. program, students should have completed, or be in the process of completing, a Bachelors degree, with between 48 and 60 credits in philosophy by the time of completion.
Typically, these credits would satisfy a breadth requirement, including courses in:
- the history of philosophy;
- logic and critical thinking;
- ethics, political philosophy or value theory;
- and metaphysics, epistemology, or philosophy of science.
Applicants who have fewer than 60 credits in philosophy and cannot satisfy such a breadth requirement may be asked to take undergraduate courses (so-called concurrent qualifying courses) in addition to and as a part of the regular MA program. If in doubt, please contact the Graduate Program Director with a list of completed philosophy courses or transcripts.
A qualifying year program is available for those who possess a Bachelor\'s degree in another discipline but have at least 24 credits in philosophy or its equivalent.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
