Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. Courses and laboratory practices 90 ECTS
  2. MSc Thesis 30 ECTS
  3. General studies provides basics for the further studies.
  4. Core courses provides the fundamental basis for light and light-matter interaction.
  5. Laboratory practices contains a large amount of practical working in photonics.
  6. Waves and scattering consists of advanced topics on modern light propagation and scattering.
  7. Light and Matter inspects light-matter interaction in microscopic level.
  8. Displays, Colors, and Applications introduces some special topics on optics.
  9. Other courses contains courses that can be included into the MSc degree.
  10. Master thesis is your own large project.

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree or equivalent in physics, optics, photonics, physical and engineering sciences with an extensive physics basic education, or another discipline related to the programme, entailing proficiency in physics and mathematics
or
  • applicant has enough studies of the suitable field of science entailing proficiency in physics/optics and mathematics, but does not yet have the Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree*.

*Conditional admission:

  • An applicant who has not graduated by the end of the application period but has enough studies of the suitable field of science entailing proficiency in physics/optics and mathematics, can be chosen to the programme conditionally. Applicant must complete the Bachelor\xc2\x92s studies by June 30. An applicant accepted conditionally, must deliver
  • a copy of the original Bachelor diploma or equivalent including a grade
and
  • an official and certified English translation (a notarized copy) of the diploma including a grade to the programme coordinator,\xc2\xa0otherwise the conditional study place will be lost.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
